So Far So Good

Well so far things have been going great in Utah. On Sunday, Dec 23, Laura and I had an open house at my parents. It was nice to see everyone. It was a little difficult to jump around to the different crowds but it had to be done. Laura and I thought it would be easier to have one big party rather than trying to fit in our different friends at different times. It turned out nice and we are grateful that most of our friends were able to attend.
Christmas Eve my family went and saw National Treasure: Book of Secrets. It was a really good movie. It was a lot like the first one, but it kept me entertained. I cannot ask for anything more out of a movie. That night my mom did her traditional Christmas Eve dinner. My family was there along with my grandparents from both sides. We had prime rib and crab. It was amazing. That night, as usual, my dad's parents spent the night at our house. It has been a tradition for my grandpa to tell us stories as we fall asleep, so we kept up that tradition. It was very nice.
Christmas was as busy as usual but fun. We started by opening presents at my parents house and then going to my mom's parents for the rest of the day. Up there we do "sticky buns" then open presents. Laura and I got some clothes and a few other odds and ends things. We also got a video camera and a portable dvd player. It was a nice day.
The next couple days after that were spent mainly hitting up the malls and returning/exchanging gifts. It was SO cold walking around Gateway but being with the family warms it right up. Each night we have played Disney Scene It (my sister gave it to us) or her version of Friends Scene It. Those have made for some fun evenings.
We have also celebrated my early birthday while out here. On Jan 6 I will be half way to 50 as Laura kindly puts it. I got a golf-swing-trainer from Laura and my sister and a nice jacket from my parents.
Overall it has been a great trip here in Utah. Tomorrow we head off to California for a week. We will spend the New Years at Laura's family cabin and a few days in Napa. It should be fun.
