Although I shouldn't be calling you my beebee anymore because you're technically a toddler with 8 teeth, I just can't help myself. Here are some fun facts about you at 15 months:
Sign Language you use frequently: eat, more, sleep, bath, please, milk, drink, bye bye, baby.
Phrases you know: go outside, say bye bye, blow kisses, high five, push the button, come to mama, put it in your crib, where’s your bink?, let’s go inside, can you sing?, smell the flowers, knock on the door, want to watch a movie?, you also know where your nose, ears, teeth, tongue, hair, and eyes are
Words you can say: mama, dada, bubble, papa, nana, bye bye
Food you love: pb&j sandwiches, hot dogs, any fruit (except mango), string cheese, cereal, oatmeal, mac-n-cheese, spaghetti, pot pies, ham & cream cheese roll-ups, bagels w/cream cheese, eggs w/ cheese, grilled cheese & ham-n-cheese sandwiches, chips, yogurt, ‘green’ smoothies, and raisins
Food you do not
like (that we wish you did): beans, rice, chicken, red meat (would be nice
when we’re having burgers), veggies that aren't smothered in chicken pot pie sauce
You love to play outside! No matter what you are in the middle of playing with, if we say ‘want to go outside?’ you run to the door and start knocking so we’ll open it. Some outside things you love are: splashing around in your little pool, playing with your sand/water table, moving around the little rocks on our side-yard, playing with the hose/sprinkler including turning on the hose from the spigot (you’re super smart!), smelling the flowers, sitting on your dada’s old kid chair.
You are such a great eater and I’ve just been following your cues all along. When you were done nursing – you were done nursing, when you didn’t want baby food anymore – you DEFINITELY did not want baby food anymore and refused to eat anything but finger foods. Now you love most foods and it is so nice to be able to get your meal ready and have you eat like a champ. You mainly drink milk at meals, and water around the house. Occasionally I’ll give you juice, but you prefer milk and water.
You don’t like your car seat unless you have your binkie, and you still only take the soothie bink which we are going to take away as soon as your two molars finally cut through (they’re taking their wee little time!). I don’t want your bink to ruin your teeth and I’ve heard those kids aren’t good for little teeth so we will see how that process goes. We are super nervous about having to do that because it is your soothie that helps you go to sleep. It is hilarious going in there and seeing you standing up with a binkie on each pointer finger (since you like to have two), and seeing you wiggle them at us when we walk in.
You love: anything you can ride on, playing with balls, dancing, wearing necklaces, putting our shoes on and walking around in them, throwing things all over the house, falling into our pile of pillows on our bed, playing in the shower, being tickled, pushing buttons on my computer, watching home videos of yourself, climbing up and down the stairs, reading books, playing with rocks, and sitting on our chairs like a big girl.
Your bedtime routine consists of
- Changing into your jammies
- Drinking milk (you still don’t drink nearly as much as when you had a bottle, but we’re still working on that)
- Brushing your teeth:You love when I brush your teeth and are SOO good at keeping your mouth open and letting me brush away at those cute little teeth and your tongue while I sing your 'Brushing the Teethies' song.
- Pointing out the whole family on our ‘picture wall’. You love to point all over those pictures as we walk along it, and then turn on and off the light switches.
- Reading a book (or sometimes two)
- Having mama sing you “I am a child of god” all 3 verses, “Rockabye Baby” both verses, “Mother Goose Lullaby” all 3 verses which is my favorite, and sometimes “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”.
- Then we lay you down, turn on Shelley (your glowing seahorse) and you fall asleep. You are such a great sleeper and sleep from about 8:30 – 7:30 every night. When you wake up in the morning and see us come in the room you throw your binkey’s out of your crib saying ‘OHH’, reach for me to pick you up, grab the pencil we have that currently holds your curtains back from touching your night light, grab your hamper lid and march out of your room. It’s hilarious!
