Tyson and I went to Luray Caverns with Dan & Yvette Monson. The caverns are only about an hour and 1/2 away. I had never seen anything like it, and it was really cool. The stalactites were a couple stories high and still growing. They were super thick also. The best part was you don't even have to hike to get to them, they built a store-museum connecting to the entrance. If you live out here, we definitely recommend seeing them!
An engineer who loved organs wanted to create one that would play the "notes" of the stalactites. He went around and tapped a bunch of the stalactites to record the different notes they made. He then made the organ and had wires connected to the different stalactites that made different notes. They have the organ play a song and whenever a key is pressed, it is using those wires to tap the stalactite it is connected to...it was really cool!
The bottom of this is a pool of water that is reflecting the stalactites above...it was really trippy in real life.
They called this "over-easy eggs" ...or however you call it.
